The Wagstaff® Epsilon™ Ingot Casting System for aerospace hard alloys is an advanced, specialized technology designed specifically to cast high-strength aluminum hard alloys for aerospace applications. While built for aerospace-grade alloys, this advanced technology can also be used for automotive, military and commercial applications toward everyone’s lightweighting and greening goals.
The system consists of a mold table, molds, starting head base, and starting heads engineered to produce aerospace-grade hard alloys of the highest quality with maximum efficiency. The technology is designed to keep curl under control at cast start while minimizing shrinkage stress in the newly solidified, high-strength hard alloy ingot. A specialized, steel, double-curvature starting head is standard, with an optional Wagstaff designed contact wiper system available for additional precision.
Each aerospace Epsilon™ mold incorporates the Wagstaff® SplitJet™ Enhanced Cooling Technology, which provides independent control of the primary and secondary water jets for optimizing both the start and run portions of the cast. It also has a unique water signature and produces the correct cooling rate in steady state while the unique mold geometry minimizes solidification stress. These features result in aerospace aluminum hard alloy ingots with metallurgical properties to meet major aerospace company needs.
As with every Wagstaff casting system, the Epsilon™ aerospace system comes backed by expert techniques and next-generation know-how to successfully and efficiently cast hard alloys tailored to your production goals.
